FAQ

Shipping

Shipping chocolates can be tricky. That’s why we take all the precautionary measures we can to be sure your package arrives safe, sound and delicious. We typically ship earlier in the week in order to prevent packages from being in transit (heaven forbid in a warm location!) over the weekend. If there is unusually warm weather in either the origin or destination, we may hold the package until it’s safe to ship. We will notify you via the email used in your transaction if we hold your order for more than a couple of days. We nearly always ship with gel ice packs as a precautionary measure. Open your package when it arrives and remove the ice pack in order to prevent condensation.

All of our products are made by hand and we do make everything “to-order”. Allow a day or two for us to create your goodies. We are only in production from Monday-Friday. If you need your package to arrive by a specific date, please select the expedited shipping option and contact us to be sure we can get it there in time.

Please note that our guaranteed delivery timelines do not take unexpected weather delays into consideration, and weather delays may affect ship dates and arrival dates. If you have any questions about shipping your package, please call us at 805.637.6985.

We do not ship internationally.

Shelf life

You will find the ‘sell-by’ date stamped on the ingredients label of our products. We advocate consuming your goodies in a timely fashion as they are best fresh. However if you do hang onto them, enjoy them by the date marked! Our truffles and mint sticks have a 30 day life and our caramels and caramelized almonds have a 60 day life.

Caring for your confections

Our products should be kept cool to prevent melting and maintain quality. We recommend finding a cool, dry place for storage. Sealing them in an airtight container or zip lock bag is also helpful in preserving freshness. If it is just too hot, refrigeration is ok. We recommend putting the product in an unzipped zip lock bag in the refrigerator until it cools to the same temperature (about an hour) before sealing it. If they are refrigerated, they should be brought back to room temperature before consumption in order to enjoy the full flavor and texture.

Ingredients

We only use the highest quality ingredients in all of our products. We source many of our ingredients at our local farmer’s market and with other local purveyors. We also grow some of our own ingredients. The chocolate that we use is all single origin, grown organically and direct farmed traded, although it is not certified organic nor is it certified fair trade. Examples of our local ingredient sourcing: San Marcos Farm Honey, Santa Ynez Lavender Company, Green Star coffee & tea, Mizuba Japanese matcha, Earthtrine Farms oranges, home grown Meyer lemons, thyme and mint.

Allergens

All of our products with chocolate contain soy lecithin, which is an emulsifier, preventing the cocoa butter from separating from the cocoa mass. Our products are gluten-free; however all of our products are manufactured in a facility that handles tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, soy and milk products. Our truffles, mint sticks and caramels contain cream and butter.

Community and Environment

Jessica Foster Confections is committed to the environment and to supporting our community. We source many ingredients locally as we want to support the community that supports us. We also use organic ingredients whenever possible. Nearly all of our packaging is made with recycled materials and we participate in the city food scraps program to minimize our impact on the environment. We also participate in events and donate to countless local schools and non-profits. Some of our charitable partners are: The Alzheimer’s Association, The Rape Crisis Center, The Breast Cancer Resource Center, Pacific Pride Foundation, Lotusland, Heal the Ocean, Santa Barbara Food Bank, Domestic Violence Solutions, Dream Foundation, AHA and many more!
